Safety Concerns

Has anyone observed that the trees in the median are beginning to obstruct the line of sight on Edmondson Ave, making it difficult to judge traffic and hard to cross Edmondson Ave between Old Frederick Rd and North Rolling Rd?

To make matters worse, there are no crosswalks in the middle to allow our community to reach the other side of Edmondson Ave, especially for our walkers and children. Additionally, the ADA ramps and sidewalks do not continue where needed like in our community and Old Fredrick Rd. I believe it's time for us to come together and petition the county for more safety improvements to ensure the safety of our walking, driving, biking and neighbors in the community.

Agree regarding sidewalks. Both sides of N. Rolling Road from Frederick Road to Altavue and Old Frederick need sidewalks as does Old Frederick Road from the roundabout @ Edmondson Road both sides to Drummond on the Colonial Gardens side and all the way up Old Frederick on the opposite side. With the number of school aged children, many who walk, definitely needed. Will also benefit out daily resident walkers. Edmondson from Roanoak to N. Rolling would. benefit as well.

I think additional and ADA compliant sidewalks, as well as cross walks on Edmondson, would be great. As far as the trees on Edmondson, maybe they could just trim some of the lower branches to improve visibility. I don’t think it’s the trunks obstructing the view so much as the low hanging branches.

I'd love to see crosswalks across edmondson! I like the trees, so I am more torn about that--is there a solution to improve visibility that doesn't involve cutting them down?
